WASSA EAST DISTRICT:  CHEMICAL SELLERS RECEIVES TRAINING

The Wassa East District Health Directorate of the Ghana Health Service has organized a day’s training workshop for chemical sellers at Daboase in the Western Region.

About 30 chemical sellers in the district attended the workshop. They were taken through the basic principles of dispensing drugs, checking of manufacturing and expiring date of drugs before purchasing them. There were also demonstrations of the best way of using both the male and female condoms.

 Addressing participants, Mrs. Dorcas Sackey acknowledge the need for chemical sellers to be given periodic training since the district can not boast of pharmaceutical to shops.

She charged participants not to take for granted the knowledge acquired through the workshop and give their respective communities the best form of services that they deserve.

Explaining the reasons behind the demonstration of the wearing of both female and male condoms, Mrs. Sackey said due to ignorance most people get infected with sexually transmitted diseases in spite of using protection during sex.

Timothy Kofi Wayo and Emmanuel Gyema chemical sellers at Jerusalem and Daboase, expressed gratitude to the Heath Directorate and the assembly for the training. They appealed for the exercise to be made periodically to keep them always updated to current trends.
